Digital Analogue Ham Radio
Великобритания
Добавлен 23 ноя 2007
Hi this is Chris 2E0UK. I am a radio enthusiast in the UK, that has been fascinated by the magic of Radio For over 40 years.
I created my RUclips channel many years ago. Initially it was just a place to store my own videos of great contacts and signals I have received. But to my amazement I noticed other people were watching my videos and the numbers went up every month first it was ten views then one hundred then in the thousands.
So I decided to make videos to inspire other people with an interest in this great hobby. I can only talk about stuff that I am really interested in and hopefully this comes over in the videos. My particular interests are handheld radios, base stations, both receivers and transceivers. HF VHF UHF both analogue and digital hence the title. I also enjoy operating from the mobile in the car and speaking to people all over the world on voice communications. I particularly like to do videos about subjects other people have not covered much if at all.

That solved a problem I was having. Thanks.
Great stuff. This is not that widely known. I try to push it and publicize it. Appreciate the comment. Loads of other stuff about this radio on my channel, please subscribe
Ordered one chris thanks for the review
Thanks for video do my head in going from a talk group then to find out i was back on the same one
Glad it helped it is a silly system. Why anyone would want to go back to where they were before is beyond me.
How do you get the CQCQCQ and YOUR CALLSIGN to show on the app? Mine reads openspot and I cannot figure out how to fix this. Greg KO8A
I work at that location! Just signed up for Foundation - visit there often? Stay on site or just visit to access cliffs?
Awesome. Wish I'd met up with you there. We have been every year for ten years, and over. Good luck with the foundation. It's pretty straightforward mate. I have done loads of videos from the cliff tops over the years
this is helping me get my head around trying to do NXDN and airband scanning on one device. thanks 5 years later and your helping still! very well explained i'd say
Awesome Max. There are quite a few videos in the series. search my channel and the name of the scanner to bring them up.
@@digitalanaloguehamradio yeah I’m seeing that. I’ll have to work my way through them all, and maybe one day if I have all of it up and running I’ll make a video and tag you!!!
Dont forget Import duty into the UK about £35
Total cost to the uk was About £61
Great video Chris. I love your setup. The triple mag mounts give a good capacitive coupling to the vehicle.
Thanks so much,it’s great to have the added ability to have ground wires connected. but it’s nice to know in such a simple setup it is very effective even without the wires. This was with a 2.9m whip on the top. Fantastic results. Completely the other side of the world you can’t get any better than that.
Good range of dx Chris well done for your mobile activity. 👋 73
Thanks mate. This was a real treat operating from the saltwater area.
Now this prof of a seasoned Ham Radio Operator 🎉. Brilliant setup!
Thx Wes.the old ic7000 is still packing a punch
Brilliant work Chris. What is your mobile radio and I wonder what power you were using?? Was great to speak to you today on thd local repeater whilst you were on your holibobs.
Thanks Richard, great to speak to you today. Icom 7000 hf vhf uhf mobile. 100w power. wish you a speedy recovery mate
Nice contact Chris 👌 That Mad Dog coil is certainly working very well! The salt water is definitely helping with conditions as well 👍
Yes as soon as I switched on the radio I could tell it was better than normal.thx for watching Ben
Very nice antenna. Looking for something very portable for my QRP LABS QDX Project (with Raspberry Pi) and this may just fit the bill. How many watts were you sending out on that QSO? Thanks and 73s DE W4HIT.
Hi it's running 100w Click on the link in the description and read about it.It's quite a high powered antenna
@@digitalanaloguehamradio copy that. Thanks again.
Very cool contact and setup. Did you record on memory card for cleaning up static at a later time?
No this was just recorded on a camera in the car. Roughn ready
@@digitalanaloguehamradioheard that, need to tune my ear. Insane over 10k miles!
I only get contacts like that every few years.thx
Sorted Chris...the Business.👍
Thanks. You can't get much better than that the other side of the world
Great video Chris, really enjoyed it 👍
Thx mate was fun
Excellent, thanks for the video, I'm going to buy a Hermes Lite 2, and I always had the doubt that I had to have internet, 73 from EA4HOS
Glad it helped. I'm glad I m not the only one that thought that
RT3s went on sale for about 50 USD. I figure I'd give it a try.
That is a bargain.I would get it
@@digitalanaloguehamradio Yeah, Connect Systems has it.
Great video Chris 🎉
Hey, thanks duncan.I just didn't get the long distance contacts I wanted. I will be on a vacation in a week. Or two, and it will be by the east coast salt water. So i'm hoping to get some fabulous contacts on this beast of an aerial
Nice little coil & cool video Chris… I’m curious how the steel bands don’t short out the coils they cross and change the characteristics? Maybe if you tune each one with the others fitted the characteristics don’t change…. I wonder if you added another tuning band would you have to retune all the others? Not sure if I’m explaining my query correctly! 😅
Hi, mate.Excellent question. And you worded it fine. I did notice that once I had got one tuned. And marked with Tipex, I moved that one down and put the middle collar On the original tippax mark, and it was way out. So I think you might be correct. Ask marty he's in the comment somewhere.
KB0LTT Larry in Florida
what if you are scanning and discover a repeater? how do you identify the offset and tones to enter into the channel settings?
Not sure about the offset, but all vhf.Minus six hundred here. You would have to type in the name of the repeater in the app.Repeaterbook to get the info. On the 878 you.You search for tones like this, so it may work on 868. www.reddit.com/r/AnyTone/comments/jz97hm/878uv_scanning_channel_tones/
Hi Chris, it’s great to see your Mad Dog Coil in action. 73 Marty VK4KC.
Thanks Marty. I will be doing videos Next to the salt water in early july vacation.
LThe antenna loop is optimized, and the LNA amplifier is optimized, and the effect is very good
Thank you for the info I have received the radio and very pleased with it
Hi Chris. Looks a good coild. Nicely made too. 73
Hey thanks. It's great quality At an affordable price really!
Love the face lift on your channel. Looks Sharp!
Thanks.I think I need a face lift😂
Got the 80 meter and the V center
How does it perform on eighty metres mate
@@digitalanaloguehamradio I'll have to let you know in a week or so but I will
Mad Dog Kreeeeeeestoffffff demonstrating a Mad Dog Coil !
haha agreed mate
Hi mate, time for Mad Dog Coil sounds excellent.
hi mate yes would recommend
Its amazing how we discover we have more in common through amateur radio. Mike does a fantastic job here in in maintaining an infrastructure of repeater systems that bring us together. VA3BXL.
Hi Brian. Yes, Mike does a fantastic job. Not heard the Repeater for awhile but it’s incredible signal strength when it comes through thanks thx
I had a qso with Oscar just recently, it was for Gota 2024. Joined the net. Most interesting and enjoyable net. Thanks to Oscar for running the net. David M0DUU
Yes, he does a great job. Thanks for watching
Did not know this. Thank you for putting this on RUclips. How did you learn this?
I have done some work beta Testing the radio. Thanks for watching
I use my rt3s as a scanner and it works fine I program it in the field with my scanner giving me the info to put into it
Thank you for sharing your experience rt3s it’s a great radio.
Hi, thanks for your video. For few days now I can hear very well on my local Dstar- repeaters But when I transmitt NO ONE - hears me? Sorry but I’m old & New to this Dstar & ID 52A Blessings
To access repeaters you should be in the dr mode. On the ID 52, you long press dr (down button on the joystick in the middle). In the from section at the bottom, you navigate to Your Repeater that you are hearing. In the (to) section at top you navigate to use reflector in the reflectors section.
@@digitalanaloguehamradio Thank You Kindly. Love this radio ! 🙏
I love Mine. I use it in my small garden with excellent results. It is raised 3 feet above my lawn on a spike with 3 shock cord guys. The radials are therefore sloping. Tuning is easy replicated by measuring from the top of the slider to the top winding with a steel rule. Then I record the measurement and can set it for each band with ease.
Glad you like it I think it’s a Supervalue Coil. Very pleased with my one and thanks for watching
Where did you buy the Telecopic Whip 73 G6yek
I got it from Moonraker. It was about £50.
That's a great idea. SM soldering isn't for everyone.
Yes fraser it looks awesome. Today I took My modified firmware K5 out and I was actually blown away. How good it was
The antenna loop is optimized, and the LNA amplifier is optimized, and the effect is very good
Excuse my ignorance, but what device you are using? I'm into the hobby, but without enough knowledge.
It is a car stereo. Not very good. Any FM radio Will do. A scanner or a radio connected To an outdoor antenna Is the best way to go. Go out in the car and sit on a hill and try on your car stereo. Join the facebook group uk fm dx watchdogs That is how I was alerted too. The conditions. Watch this video as well to motivate yourself. ruclips.net/video/dCuOuPv4328/видео.htmlsi=rgDEZqDYOLYQmQ8y
Mine 2018 has been deaf on analog compared to other radios, TYT 380,Alinco dual band . DMR is excellent however. Tried different antennas as well
Strange. The 380 Is a super hetradine and a very good receiver. And it's only one band so i'm not surprised that is very good. Any tone is direct conversion. It is good on analog But I wouldn't say it's the best receiver out there. However I agree with you. It is very, very good on digital
Very nice. Hopefully, an 80-10m version can be made. Standing by,..........
Anything is possible. But the one in the video has not been released. It was a beta test. And I’m very lucky to have it. Thanks for watching Mate.
I hate you LOL holy crap way to go ~~ your such a hardware tease ~~
My icom705
Nice, I can't solder tiny stuff, so I'll order one. Thnx!
Great looks legit lol😅
I've had an ID-52 USA model for 18 months. Perhaps they have changed from your preview model, but the battery life is fine - normally about 8 + hours real usage. It is much improved by not having the GPS running continuously - best is to get your GPS lock and then save it, and turn the GPS off. M one is used with a White Background and Dark letters and I find it very readable with he backlight on. It can be set to indicate the battery voltage for a second or two when you power on. The speaker is excellent and loud. Overall a very nice radio with lots of adjustments, but quite pricey. The advanced manual is needed, but only comes as a PDF
Thank you for the detailed information very interesting. The battery that came with my japan model was the super slim model, which did not last very long. In other countries like yours. You get the standard battery which is a lot better. It's a great radio. And one that I would never sell unless I had to. Thanks for watching john
Low band HF radio frequencies can travel very far. The fire company i am with used 33.90mhz until a few years ago. On some days we would get interference of people speaking foreign languages. The FCC said it was from off shore boats in Mexico. Couldn't understand a thing they said but we heard them and it was annoying. Our county has since switched to a digital radio system and it doesnt happen anymore. Its amazing how far HF radio can travel.
Thanks for watching and you're interesting comment. This is a very fascinating subject. It was great to capture it.thx
Yes agreed. But you are paying for the person's skill fitting this board. I will do a video when I receive it.
Still bit expensive!
can you unlock more frequencies as in a open tx mod?
I’m not aware of any modification, sorry
That's incredible! I didn't think that DX via sky wave would work on such a high frequency. I always considered 50mhz or so to be the upper limit for sky wave but today you have proven me wrong.........I've learnt something!!!
Thanks. Yes, I was very surprised how clear it was. I saw someone post online that they heard it in America. My car stereo is the worst in the world. Total garbage very impress that I picked it up
